The FTC announced on Sept. 17, 2026 that a revised court order expands automatic refunds under its $2.5 billion Amazon Prime settlement to consumers who used 11 to 20 Prime benefits in a year; previously only those who used fewer than 10 qualified. The maximum payment rises from $51 to $200, and Amazon must make supplemental payments of up to $149 if payments fall short of required thresholds by February 2027. According to the FTC, about $845 million has been paid so far, and newly eligible consumers will be paid automatically starting Oct. 1, 2026.

**Why it matters.** The order substantially widens the group of consumers receiving redress under one of the largest FTC settlements over subscription enrollment and cancellation practices.

Update, Oct. 1, 2026: WBTV reported that automatic payments under the expanded settlement "started rolling out via PayPal, Venmo or mailed check," with no claim required from eligible consumers.
