CFTC secures $31 million judgment over digital asset and precious metals fraud scheme

Responsible attorney: Lou Schwartz, Schwartz & Associates, PC, Atlanta, Georgia. intake@snalawyers.com

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission announced on September 30, 2026 that it obtained a court order directing a Louisiana man and an Arkansas woman to pay more than $31 million for a fraud scheme involving digital assets and precious metals. The order was secured as part of the CFTC's ongoing enforcement push against investment fraud targeting retail consumers.

Why it matters. The judgment illustrates continued federal enforcement against fraudulent investment schemes, a pattern plaintiff-side firms monitor when evaluating parallel civil claims on behalf of defrauded consumers.
