FTC and Utah, Nevada AGs sue Lens.com over contact lens pricing claims

Responsible attorney: Lou Schwartz, Schwartz & Associates, PC, Atlanta, Georgia. intake@snalawyers.com

The FTC, joined by the Utah and Nevada Attorneys General, filed suit against contact lens retailer Lens.com Inc. alleging a long-running deceptive pricing scheme in search ads and on its website. The complaint alleges the company's hidden fees routinely double the advertised price of contact lenses, costing consumers hundreds of millions of dollars. The case is pending in federal court.

Why it matters. The suit adds a state-federal coordinated enforcement action over deceptive online pricing that could lead to consumer redress and may inform related private consumer-protection claims.
