FTC sends redress payments to consumers over GOAT's shipping, refund practices
Responsible attorney: Lou Schwartz, Schwartz & Associates, PC, Atlanta, Georgia. intake@snalawyers.com
The FTC announced it is distributing more than $100,000 in checks and PayPal payments to over 6,000 customers of online sneaker and apparel marketplace GOAT who had not yet received money owed under an earlier settlement. The agency had alleged GOAT failed to honor its shipping-time and refund policies and lacked any system to honor its advertised 'Buyer Protection' guarantee for defective merchandise. The new payments follow more than $736,000 GOAT had already refunded directly to customers in 2025 under the settlement.
Why it matters. The payout shows the FTC continuing to enforce consumer-redress obligations under a settled e-commerce shipping and refund case, a pattern relevant to parallel consumer claims against online marketplaces over similar practices.
