Shein agrees to $100 million FTC settlement over shipping, service practices

Responsible attorney: Lou Schwartz, Schwartz & Associates, PC, Atlanta, Georgia. intake@snalawyers.com

Fast-fashion retailer Shein agreed to pay $100 million to resolve a Federal Trade Commission investigation into alleged delivery delays, disputed delivery confirmations, and customer-service shortcomings, according to a Reuters report. The penalty reportedly represents roughly 44% of the company's second-quarter net profit. The settlement follows a separate roughly $45 million fine in France over misleading discounts and a smaller California settlement over late shipments and refund practices.

Why it matters. The large FTC recovery against a major online retailer signals continued federal scrutiny of e-commerce shipping and refund practices that can inform parallel consumer-protection claims against similar platforms.
